| I am a PhD. Candidate in American Politics, with research interests in
Political Psychology, Public Opinion, and Research Methods.
My
dissertation research begins from a question of the nature of elite
rhetoric. Specifically, when political communication becomes
increasingly group-centric, how does public opinion respond? To begin
answering this question, I develop and test a theory of association
which examines the process through which elite communication develops
associations between policy items and policy beneficiaries, and how
such linkages lead individual's perceptions of such groups in society
to influence opinion. A summary of my dissertation may be found here.
My research interests beyond my dissertation focus on the further application of experimental methods to understanding political behavior. More about my future research may be found here.
My teaching interests encompass all aspects of American Politics. While my research focuses predominantly on political behavior, I am able to teach courses in both behavior and institutions, in addition to courses in research methods. More about my teaching experience may be found here.
